Mistakes Can Be Good Teachers

The only real mistake is the one from which we learn nothing.
~ John Powell

What is a mistake? For most of us, saying “I made a mistake” means either we did the wrong thing or we did something incorrectly.  But is doing something wrong the worst outcome?

Mistakes can be our teachers.  They can redefine our goals and tasks and therefore turn out to be beneficial.  Often we focus on our mistakes and spend energy judging ourselves because of them.  Instead, be patient and await their lessons and teachings, which are not always immediately apparent.

I have learned a lot from my mistakes and therefore no longer label them “mistakes.”  Sometimes the direction they have sent me in turned out better than the one I would have otherwise gone. So expect to make mistakes.  Say, “I am sorry” when they affect others, and then learn from them.

Try to see your “mistakes” in a new light today.

Peace,
