The person who tries to live alone will not succeed as a human being.  His heart withers if it does not answer another heart. His mind shrinks away if he hears only the echoes of his own thoughts and finds no other inspiration.
~ Pearl S. Buck

Life is about relationships.  If living life alone weren’t boring, we wouldn’t be here. Think about this; you are the Creator sitting around all alone on a lovely day, and another one, and another one, into infinity.  One day you get up and think, “This is boring day after day.”  So you create other living things to relate to and differentiate yourself from.  Now you know who you are.

How you relate with others determines a great deal about the quality of your life. Studies show that people with strong spiritual connections and relationships to other living things, from plants to people, live longer, healthier lives.  A recent study of elderly people showed that those who gave to others in their later years lived longer.

So give yourself a long, healthy life by giving to others and developing healing relationships.  Yes, you will experience loss too, but the loss is offset by the gain.  You will be sustained by the remaining relationships and carry the memories of the others with you forever, just as the Creator does, who no longer has time to be bored or lonely.

Relate to your life.  Relate to other people.  Relate to all living things.
