Q & A with Bernie – July 13, 2020

Question for Bernie:

Dear Bernie,

I hope this email reaches you in good health! I hope you have avoided the effects of Covid-19 and all your loved ones are safe and well too. I am still making kefir in my small business – still facing challenges, and at this time just going with the flow.

My dad with his esophageal tumor is feeling very poorly on his second round of chemo!  It is difficult to get him to take his liquid feeds. He is only 76 years old – and feeling so unwell – is stubbornly refusing nutrition – so sad to watch!

Myself, I am still working through my emotional scars and seeking healing as my priority for my own self-care! How are you doing? Love and best wishes.

Bernie’s Answer:

Ask your dad if he wants to live or quit therapy.  Ask him what would make him happy in his life. What changes would he like to make?

Ask him to do this several times a day:  Visualize treatment as having no side effects. He can change things for the better or give up—it’s his life and his choice.  Your job is to love him.

Peace,
Bernie

Dera Bernie, I’ve followed you since I was in undergrad some many years ago. I’ve listened to your relaxation tape over and over to the point they will no longer play. In 2015 I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I had the left breast removed a implant inserted. After 3 months my body rejected it so out it came which ment another surgery. I continued having problems with nerve pain. In 2017 the other breast had cancer again it had to come off following another surgery. In total I’ve had 6 surgery and still in pain to date. My health is generally good but cancer has given me 2 more Diseases fibromyalgia and pollymaliga. I’m under alot of pressure having 2 care for mom and her bills since my dad passed 2yrs ago. I would love 2 hear from you I pray you and your family are well during this virus?

I realize that I am posting in the reply section. However, I do have two questions:
1 – years ago, I listened to one of your Guided Imageries with erasing the blackboard and I cannot find it anywhere. I do wish there were more of your Guided Imageries. I use them daily and as a teacher, share them with all my classes (so helpful).
Bessel van der Kolk – identified multi-generations of trauma affecting our brain and our health. I have begun trying to change my brain in the imageries, do you agree or would you suggest focusing on the physical manifestations. Although, it seems evident that you are all inconclusive but I was curious. I could not adore you more! You have helped so many people, thank you!
