“There is a land of the living and a land of the dying and the bridge is love, the only survival, the only meaning.”
– Thornton Wilder, Author
from his book, The Bridge of San Luis Rey

I’ve been fighting kidney disease and a host of other problems for years and was just keeping my head above water. Now, I’ve been diagnosed with a fatal bone marrow disorder.

Do you have any suggestions for coping with this latest diagnosis on top of my serious ongoing medical problems?

Bernie’s Answer:

Yes, I definitely have some suggestions for you.

First of all, focus on your potential and stop labeling this latest diagnosis as fatal. Miracles do happen.

It isn’t always about healing disease itself, but about healing your life as a whole. Start living in a way that allows you to love your life and body in spite of these medical problems.

Think carefully about whether at this point you are tired of your life due to the kidney disease and other problems. If the honest answer to that question is “Yes,” then accept that your body is trying to help you out. When we leave our bodies, we become perfect again.

Peace,

Bernie
