Words Have Energetic Power – Choose Yours Wisely!

This is a guest post by Prudence Sinclair.

I am going to admit something to you right now: I am human. And sometimes I do very human things. This morning I found myself saying some not-so-nice things about my neighbors who are… how shall I say… often hard to recognize as children of God. They are often… not so pleasant to live next door to. They are loud and disrespectful to their neighbors and don’t seem to really care that they cause many of us grief.

But as soon as the not-so-nice words slipped out, I regretted it. I regretted it for different reasons:

  • I don’t like to be emotionally out of control
  • I don’t like to judge
  • I know that words have power

And that’s what I want to talk to you about today: the power of words and why it is so very, very important that you choose yours wisely.

Words Have Energetic Significance

Each word we utter or write has a vibratory signature that goes out into the universe to help create the reality we experience. This is not woo-woo stuff, this is physics. The words we use have meaning and emotion attached to them, which is incredibly powerful in shaping reality. Words have energetic power – choose yours wisely.

If you’ve never seen the work of Japanese scientists Dr. Emoto on the effects of words on water, I urge you to watch this short 5-minute video to understand that our words LITERALLY shape reality:

How are You?

It’s a question most of us get on a daily basis from friends, family and complete strangers. When you are asked this question, how do you typically respond? If you’re like most people, you answer with an “I’m okay,” or “I’m fine.”

What would happen to your life if you answered differently? What if you said, “I’m really good!” or “I feel great today, what about you?” What if you said these words over and over? What if you started using more positively charged words instead of negative ones? Could just being more selective about the words you use actually change the course of your life?

YES!!!!!!!

Now, the words we use become habitual, so being more selective will be a process you must commit to. Kind of like eating right and exercising more. Change is never easy, but change usually can lead us to happier, healthier and more fulfilling lives.

Here are some things you can do to help you be more selective with the words you use and energetically send out into the ether:

Think Before You Speak or Write

I don’t know if mothers are still telling their kids this, sometimes it doesn’t seem like it, but when I was growing up, my mother and my friends’ mothers would always tell us, “Think before you speak!” Wise WORDS.

It’s always a good idea to take a little time to gather your thoughts before you speak. If negative words are getting ready to rush from your mouth, take a breath, smile, and find some positive words instead. What words make you feel good? Even if the honest answer isn’t a positive one, change the narrative in your head and find the positive to say.

For instance, this morning, a friend of mine asked with a knowing eye roll how my neighbors were. She knows darn well these neighbors have caused me and others much grief over the years. I didn’t follow my own advice. Instead of taking a breath and finding something positive, I unloaded a barrage of negativity.

Now you might say, “But Prue, what if there IS nothing positive to say?” That’s BS. There is ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS something positive to find in life. I could have mentioned that my neighbors always feed the birds, which is a nice thing to do, or that they have nice hydrangeas on the side of their house. But I slipped up and sent out a bunch of negative words and energy, which will only support the negative situation, not make it better.

Cut Out Gossip

Gossip is entirely destructive. It demeans the humanity of all parties involved. Follow the golden rule: if you don’t have anything nice to say…

Appreciate Instead of Complaining

It’s easy to find stuff to complain about. Heck, it’s even fun to do. Misery likes company, and when we get together with others and those others are bitching and moaning about any and everything, it’s kind of fun to join right in.

But when you remember that words carry emotion, and emotions carry energy that literally shapes your reality, you realize that complaining is going to attract more into your life to complain about.

Say Thank You More

There is always something or someone to be thankful for. Say thank you as many times as you can each day. Thank God for your life. Thank your loved ones for their support. Thank yourself for trying your best each day. Thank your pets for loving you unconditionally. Thank your hot water heater for giving you a hot shower. Just. Be. Thankful.

I promise you, you will be amazed at the small changes and big ones that happen in your life when you begin to harness the power of words.
