Let your heart guide you.
It whispers, so listen closely.
~ From the film The Land Before Time
In college my worst grade was a C in Creative Writing. I was a pre-med science major trying to broaden my experience. But since I lived primarily in my head, I was so intellectual there was nothing creative about my writing. I could have let that so-called defeat keep me from ever writing again.
Years later a patient of mine, who is a psychic, told me I was going to write a book. I told her about my college experience and laughed. Of course, she turned out to be right. Since then she has told me how many more books I am going to write, including this one. I have had several books on the best-seller list, and my words have spread all over the world through them.
Over the years I have learned to move from my head to my heart. My books are written from my heart, my experience, and my life. I recall reading one of William Saroyan’s novels in which a writer, after reading a letter his assistant wrote to his father, compliments his assistant for his wonderful writing. The assistant denies he knows how to write and says, “It’s only a letter to my father.” The writer answers, “Then write a letter to everyone.” That is what I have learned to do.
In what area might a shift from head to heart, open your creative avenues.
Peace,
~ Bernie
